Security and privacy

Your recordings, handled with care.

TranscribeLab is made by MB Makery, a company in the European Union, so your data is protected by the EU’s GDPR. This page sums up how your sound and text are handled; the privacy policy has every detail.

  • No bot joins your call
  • 5 free transcripts per UTC calendar month
  • 11 languages, detected for you

What happens to a recording

  1. 1

    You record or upload

A tab you record, your microphone if you switch it on, or a file you upload. You decide what is recorded, and nothing is recorded without you pressing the button.

  2. 2

    The sound becomes text

The recording is kept only while it is turned into text. The sound is deleted once the text is ready.

  3. 3

    The text is yours

Transcripts, names and summaries stay in your account until you delete them. You can delete a recording, or your whole account, yourself.

What we never do

No advertising, no tracking

The site uses only the cookies it needs to work. No advertising and no tracking cookies; visits are counted anonymously.

No bot in your calls

You record your own browser tab. Nothing joins the meeting, and the people in the call see nobody new.

No card numbers kept

Payments are handled by our payment provider. We never see or store your card number.

No surprise sharing

A transcript is visible to others only if you share its link, and you can switch a link off at any time.

No reading your questions

Questions you ask about a recording and their answers are not saved; we only count them against your plan.

Good to know

  • Your IP address is used only to block abuse, with limits on how many requests one address can make.
  • You sign in with a code sent to your e-mail, or with Google or Apple. We keep only the account id and e-mail they give us, never your name, photo or the provider’s tokens.
  • Server logs hold ids, sizes, durations and error codes only.
  • Before your first recording TranscribeLab explains the recording rules and gives you a ready message for the chat, so everyone in a call knows.

Questions

Is my audio kept?

No. The sound is kept only while it is turned into text and is deleted once the text is ready.

Who can see my transcripts?

Only you, unless you share a transcript’s link. A shared link can be switched off at any time.

Where is the company based?

In the European Union, so the GDPR applies to your data. The company’s full details are at the bottom of every page.

How do I delete my data?

Delete any recording in the app, or delete your whole account on the delete account page. Deleting the account removes your recordings and your data.

Do you sell my data?

No. Your recordings and texts are processed only to give you the service, as the privacy policy describes.
