Delete your account
Last updated:
This page is available in 11 languages. The English text is the original.
This page explains how to delete your account and your data for every product of MB Makery that uses the TranscribeLab account:
- the Android app TranscribeLab: Audio to Text on Google Play,
- the Android app Watchbrief – Video Summaries on Google Play,
- the TranscribeLab website and the TranscribeLab Chrome add-on.
They all share one account, so deleting it in one place deletes it everywhere. You do not need to sign in or install anything to read this page.
Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. If you subscribed in one of the apps, cancel it first, or Google keeps charging you: open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile picture, then Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, choose Watchbrief or TranscribeLab and tap Cancel subscription. A Pro plan bought on the website is cancelled automatically when the account is deleted.
1. In the app
- Open TranscribeLab or Watchbrief and go to the Account tab.
- If you are not signed in, sign in with the e-mail address or the Google account you used before.
- Near the bottom, tap Delete account, then Delete forever.
The account is deleted at once and the app signs out. Summaries the app saved on your phone stay on the phone until they expire after 30 days, or until you uninstall the app or clear its storage. If Android backup is on, a copy of the app's data may also be in your phone's backup in your Google account; you control that backup in your phone's settings.
If you never signed in, there is no account yet: what the app made is linked only to its random install id. Sign in in the app (everything the install made moves into the account) and then delete the account as above, or write to us (section 3).
2. On the website, without the app
- Open the Account page of the website and sign in with a code sent to your e-mail, or with Google: the same account as in the app.
- In the Delete my account section, choose Delete my account.
- Type DELETE to confirm and choose Delete my account again.

3. By e-mail
Write to us from the e-mail address of your account, with the subject “Delete my account”, and say which app you use. If you never signed in, tell us roughly when you used the app and what you summarized or transcribed, so that we can find it. We delete the data and confirm by e-mail within one month.
E-mail: support@developers911.com
4. What is deleted
- Your account: your e-mail address and the link to your Google account.
- Everything in it: recordings and transcripts, YouTube summaries and the captions they were written from, summaries, translations, speaker names, share links (they stop working at once) and your word list.
- Every app and add-on install linked to the account, every sign-in on every device, and your usage counts.
- The Google Play purchase details our server kept for your plan (the purchase token, product, plan and dates).
- Audio is never kept in the first place: it is deleted as soon as its text is ready. Your questions and the answers are not saved either; they are only counted in your usage counts.
5. What is kept, and for how long
- A one-way fingerprint (hash) of your e-mail address, with the number of free transcripts used in the current month, that month and the date of deletion. It stops a new account from resetting this month's free allowance and cannot be turned back into your address.
- Backups: a copy of the database is made every night and kept for 30 days, so deleted data disappears from the backups within 30 days.
- Server logs: ids, sizes and error codes only, deleted after 7 days; the web server's access logs after about two weeks.
- Payment and accounting records that the law requires us to keep. Google keeps its own records of a Google Play purchase, and Link keeps its records of a payment on the website.
- E-mails you sent us, as long as we need them to handle your request.
- On our older summary server, which Watchbrief still uses in some cases (privacy policy, section 11): captions, summaries and answers in its memory for at most 24 hours, and read-aloud audio of English summaries for 30 days. Neither is linked to your account.
The details are in our privacy policy, sections 6, 7 and 11.
